BitsNBytes's News

So far, the art portal has been working fairly well, although there have been some subpar works that have been scouted and been included in the main listing. Some of these include Sonic drawings that are colored like shit to try to make them original (believe me, it doesn't work), and also the art portal is a tad slow, probably because there is a lot of traffic there right now.

Go ahead and check out some of my stuff if you want to, I would recommend it. ;)
(Not to mention that this is also an encouragement for you to avoid the old shit I've posted a long time ago)

Also an encouragement for you to avoid the plethora of old shit I've made, this post will also be entirely devoted to some wild cartoons from the Soviet Union I have come across. Just a note of caution, some of this stuff is extremely weird and will probably not make a lot of sense. And I might add more here later on when I feel like it.

But enjoy anyway!

SHAPKA NEVIDIMKA (RUSSIAN SSR, 1973)
I like the cartoon style of this animation. This one's about a boy who finds a hat made out of newspaper that turns him invisible.

YOZHIK V TUMANE (HEDGEHOG IN THE FOG) (RUSSIAN SSR, 1975)
Hands down one of the most wonderful animations I've seen. Yuri Norshtein, the animator of this film has also been working on The Overcoat, an animation TWENTY years in the making, and it's still not finished!

.
/* */
SKAZKA SKAZOK (TALE OF TALES) (RUSSIAN SSR, 1979)
Yet another brilliant work by Yuri Norshtein. Here is part 1 of the film, you can find the other parts on YouTube.

.
/* */
MGELI DA KRAVI (SHEEP AND WOLF) (GEORGIAN SSR, 1981)
This one also has a unique cutout animation style, although I think it's a tad creepy. Other than that, this one is based off some kind of fable. Good luck trying to understand what's going on.

.
/* */
GREEN LEAF (GEORGIAN SSR, 19??)
A group of donkeys who rule their own city steal a bird from the forest and try to coax it to perform in their town.

.
/* */
KAPRICHIO (GEORGIAN SSR, 1988)
This one's about a lad who protects his sheep from a pack of wolves that steal the sheep. Gee, this guy can kick the living shit out of his own pups!

.
/* */
PISPISA XANIM VÄ SICHAN BÄY (AZERBAIJANI SSR, 1973)
The reason I got somewhat hooked on this cartoon is because of the unique art style involved. This particular one is about a bug who tries to look for friends but fails.

.
/* */
QARAVÄLLI (AZERBAIJANI SSR, 1989)
I've saved the oddest one for last. HOLY SHIT is it trippy. Unfortunately this is only a segment from the whole film.

WELL THAT WAS FUN
